Outdoor Bistro Tables
Outdoor bistro tables are most often used by cafés, though they can also be purchased for gardens, patios and balconies. The material of outdoor bistro tables is often quite different from that of conventional indoor bistro tables, due to the fact that the bistro tables must endure the conditions of the outdoors rather than being protected indoors at all times. Therefore, it is not recommended to have wood bistro tables outdoors. Instead, consider metal frames: aluminium, expoxy with aluminium finish, stainless steel, iron or pewter. If you are not happy with a metal top, you can consider glass although if it falls over, there is a danger of it breaking.
The designs are often quite different too. Outdoor bistro tables often have four legs as opposed to the single leg with round bottom of the modern indoor bistro tables, and outdoor bistro tables also have a square top just as often as the more conventional round top. Some outdoor bistro tables, particularly those which are wood, are designed to fold when not in use, thus protecting it from t he outdoor elements. This is the only way in which to protect and maintain a wood outdoor bistro table. The colors of outdoor bistro tables are also more varied than any other variety: whereas in conventional, classic bistro tables one is limited by the colors of wood: brown, black and slight variations of the two, outdoor bistro tables can be transparent (glass), black, brown, or even painted green, blue, red or yellow. A lovely alternative is the mosaic bistro table, but of course these are very expensive. A favourite of mine is the very modern white bistro table, but be careful in choosing this variety, since it only fits with a select few gardens, balconies or patios.
Some very strange designs that I would like to draw your attention to are anomalies among outdoor bistro tables but pieces of art which – who knows – might fit your own garden. I first came across the outdoor bar table at my local furniture store, and although it is a bar table more than anything, it could fit in small corners of your garden near the bar (if you are lucky to have one!). This type of outdoor bistro table has a top held up by three curved supports which curve all the way down to a tiny round bottom. A very bizarre yet alluring table if ever I saw one! Second, I have been enticed by glass top bistro tables surrounded on the outside by a thin metal frame, with metal legs and elegant, very artistic floral patterns in a cylinder below the top. In picking out your own bistro table, you’ve got to go with, a) your own particular taste, however strange, and b) whether it fits in your garden. Be honest with yourself! If both of these criteria are fit, go for it!
The wonderful thing about outdoor bistro tables is, the ability to dine and socialize outside in an environment which is both elegant and uninvasive: bistro tables just seem so natural; they are tiny in comparison to giant, clunky dining tables which certainly cannot fit anywhere but indoors. They enable you to eat, drink and talk outside like no other piece of furniture could. A purchase of a suitable outdoor bistro table is critical to any excellent garden and thus it should be a purchase which is treated with the utmost care. I hope this article has helped your decision at least somewhat, and do contact me if you are having trouble picking out your own bistro table for your garden, patio or balcony – I would be glad to help.
